— On Tuesday November 11, 2014, Fight For Children and the World Boxing Council (WBC) brought champion boxers to visit the students at Dr. Rayner Browne Elementary Middle School in Baltimore.

The winning boxers spoke with approximately 75 students from fifth to eighth grades. The boxers shared their personal experiences about how they became champions by focusing on hard work at school and the gym and by staying out of trouble. Champion boxers in attendance included Mia St. John, Juan LaPorte, Roberto Duran, Alicia Ashley, Heather Hardy, Chazz Witherspoon and Karl Dragan.

The visit to Dr. Rayner Browne Elementary Middle School was part of a week of events leading up to the 25th annual Fight Night, which was held on Thursday, November 13 in Washington, D.C.

Fight For Children programs focus on improving the quality of early childhood and K-12 education. Fight Night, Fight For Children’s signature fundraiser, brings together 2,000 heavyweights of business, government, entertainment and community service, for an evening of fun, auctions, exciting entertainment and live professional boxing bouts. One of the most highly acclaimed events in Washington, Fight Night raises funds for Fight For Children and other organizations that provide education and healthcare services to low-income children.
