— Mount Olive African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church of Annapolis, announces “144 Years, Standing on the Promises of God.” Since 1870, Mt. Olive AME Church has a history of allowing God’s grace and glory to lead the congregation to minister to the community of Annapolis.

Reverend Johnny R. Calhoun, Pastor of Mt. Olive AME Church, has had such a dynamic vision for the church since his beginning 15 years ago. The theme for the year is “In 2014, We’re Looking for the Unseen.” As Pastor Calhoun always says Mount Olive is “God’s house on the hill where faith is revived and lives are renewed.”

As one of the pillars of Parole, Mt Olive has been standing tall and sitting high on a hill, yet reaching low to assist the needy and give comfort to the least of these, our brothers and sisters. They have provided leadership to the City of Annapolis, while working to support the greater Parole community. Providing a mayor and city councilmen, a community center and rain gardens, after school programs and summer camps, many ministries and outreach activities.

The Anniversary celebration begins at the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, November 16, 2014, with an uplifting worship experience featuring a special Mt. Olive Anniversary Choir under the direction of Minister of Music, Brother Harold Sims. The Reverend Dr. Wayne Johnson of St. Stephen AME Church of Wilmington, North Carolina will deliver a dynamic sermon. Dinner will be served following the morning service at the Mt. Olive Community Life Center.

The festivities continue on Monday, November 17 and Tuesday November 18 with revival services on both nights at 7 p.m.

Guests, friends and other churches near and far are invited to join the 144th church anniversary celebration and revival Mt. Olive AME Church located 2 Hicks Avenue in Annapolis.
