CNN — Kerry Washington’s on-screen life is filled with “Scandal,” but off-screen, the 36-year-old actress has plenty to smile about.
“I’m the luckiest broad in showbiz,” Washington told People magazine after she was nominated for an outstanding lead actress in a drama Emmy. “I just feel really blessed and humbled and grateful for this nomination.”
But that’s not the only celebratory news Washington’s had lately. Around July 4, reports spread that the actress had secretly married NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha, 31, on June 24.
Although Washington demurred that she “doesn’t talk about my personal life,” the star couldn’t help but admit she’s feeling pretty good.
“I will say I’m really happy,” she said. “I’m blessed in all areas of my life.”
