— On Friday, July 20, 2018, a team of over 25 attorneys, secretaries, IT and litigation support members from DLA Piper’s Baltimore office hosted the second annual Horizon Day Camp Carnival, a fun and festive highlight of the Horizon Day Camp, which allows children battling cancer and their siblings to have a safe summer camp experience by providing a team of medical staff for campers and their families.

Funded by local donors, the Horizon Day Camp’s team of medical, staff enabled the kids and their siblings to enjoy all the activities of a day camp, while providing a support system for the children’s families.

For the second year in a row, DLA Piper volunteers dressed up as cartoon characters, hosted sing-alongs for the campers and helped out with face painting at the carnival, wgich was held at Maryvale Preparatory School.

Eighty children were able to attend and enjoy the carnival festivities this year, which included games, bounce houses, a pizza party, and appearances by the Orioles Bird and Elsa from Frozen.

The Horizon Day Camp Carnival is one of several community engagement initiatives the DLA Piper Baltimore Cares Committee has organized in the past two years, along with collecting holiday gifts for local children and gathering more than 300 care packages to donate this past winter.
