BALTIMORE — Following a vote by the Baltimore City Council, Mayor Catherine Pugh had four confederate statues removed from landscape overnight.

(L-R) Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument (embellished with a statue of a pregnant slave woman); Confederate Woman's Monument; Judge Roger B. Taney Monument, in tribute to the Chief Justice who wrote the infamous Dred Scot Decision in 1857 which proclaimed that African Americans, free and slave, were property and could never be citizens of the United States of America.
