— The Maryland Department of Transportation’s Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will be spreading holiday cheer in the form of free bus rides and through its annual Holiday Train Garden, which is on display at the Mondawmin Metro Subway Station until New Year’s Day.

As a thank you to MTA riders and to wish everyone a happy holiday season, the MTA Holiday Bus is on the road again, spreading holiday cheer with free rides for MTA bus patrons. The specially decorated bus will operate on different Local Bus routes weekdays until December 20. Customers will receive candy canes and greetings from Santa, who will be on the bus with his elves. The inside of the MTA Holiday Bus also is decorated for the holidays and will play festive music for passengers.

“This is our way of thanking our customers and wishing them a happy and joyous holiday season,” said MTA Administrator and CEO Paul Comfort. “The MTA cares about our passengers, and we are dedicated to providing them with world-class customer service. I personally look forward to meeting and speaking with many of our customers along some of the MTA Holiday Bus routes.”

Meanwhile, the MTA invites children of all ages to the Holiday Train Garden at the Mondawmin Metro Subway Station the entire month of December.

The interactive train garden features a subway train that travels through a cityscape, neighborhoods, a zoo, a park, and a construction site. Visitors are encouraged to take part in the fun by pushing interactive buttons that make objects inside the train garden come to life.

The display is on the Mezzanine Level of the Mondawmin Metro Subway Station and is available for public viewing during the Metro Subway system’s normal operating hours.
