BALTIMORE — The NFL off-season brings about a number of negative stories. Many people only focus on that despite the many outstanding things that NFL players do within the community. Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Michael Campanaro is an example of what’s good about sports. Campanaro and the Ravens visited Frederick Douglas High School in Baltimore after the riots earlier this year.
One of the things that stood out to him was how positive and upbeat the kids were when he talked to them despite the things that were going on. He liked how excited the kids were about the upcoming season. That experience inspired him to donate 80 pairs of Under Armour cleats to the football team.
The idea to donate cleats was something that came about from looking back on his days growing up in the Baltimore area. “When I was in high school, I was always wondering what cleats I would have on my feet so I felt that giving cleats would be a good thing to do.” Campanaro said.
