Violence is a public health issue because it has an enormous impact on the health and wellness of individuals; especially youth. In celebration of the upcoming National Youth Violence Prevention Week (March 23-27), the Baltimore City Health Department is recognizing Baltimorphosis CHANGEMAKERS. Baltimore city is looking for adults and youth ages 12-18 who are making a difference by reducing violence in their community or school.
The Office of Youth Violence Prevention is dedicated to combating the epidemic of violence among our city’s young people through innovative public health programming and policy initiatives. The office houses three programs exclusively within BCHD: Operation Safe Kids, Safe Streets, and Dating Matters. In addition, we work closely with community stakeholders, state and local agencies, and public health experts on both our own programs and on citywide anti-violence initiatives.
The nomination deadline is Tuesday, March 17th. For more information click here.
