Baltimore attorney Ronisha Moore believes in the power of art. She also believes that those who are in positions to do good deeds for others shouldn’t hesitate.

“I believe that to whom much is given, much is required,” said Moore, who’s hosting a special event on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Downtown Cultural Art Center in Baltimore titled, “Miracle on Howard Street,” with the goal of connecting artists to potential buyers.

Several vendors, including the Flight American Fusion Restaurant, will be on hand to offer food and refreshments as artists like local resident and Moore’s client Karen Johnson-Wyatt will showcase their work at the event scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Moore said the event is free to attend and open to all.

“My hope is that this will be a successful event,” she said. “I want people to come out and mingle in a great environment with great food. I guess you can say, mix, mingle and munch a little bit.”

Moore and Johnson-Wyatt are producing the event, which the attorney says she first conceived while attending art walks in Baltimore. She says that several of her clients are artists who depend upon art consumers to make a living.

“There are so many talented people in Baltimore but there’s not a real platform for the artists to get their work to the public,” said Moore, whose law office, The Moore Law Firm P.C., represents clients with various legal matters. “If we don’t support these individuals, they will no longer create.”

Moore also supports the artists by using her office on Charles Street as a satellite gallery for some of Johnson-Wyatt’s works and patrons can always stop in to make a purchase.

She said she chose the Downtown Cultural Art Center for Saturday’s event as a way of showing support for minority and community-based businesses and institutions.

“I believe they are valuable to our community and we were able to work out a really good business situation,” she said.

Moore says she has put a lot of time, energy and even money into the event and she hopes that she will be able to do it again. She hopes that more vendors will sign up to participate and many residents will attend.

“My hope is that this will be a regular event,” Moore said. “I know you’ve got to start somewhere and on faith, which is what I’m doing.”

The Downtown Cultural Art Center is located at 401 N. Howard Street in Baltimore City. For directions or more information about the event, call 410-837-2787.
