Through a combined effort of ShopRite Supermarkets, elected officials, non-profit organizations and the local police, the number of guns on the streets of Baltimore will be greatly reduced. On July 26, 2014, from 10:00am – 2:00 pm there will be a Goods for Guns collection in the city of Baltimore through this partnership. The collection will take place in recognition of the new ShopRite of Howard Park located in Baltimore, MD, and supported Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Baltimore City Council, led by Council President Jack Young, the Baltimore Police Department, ShopRite Supermarkets operated by the Klein Family, and non-profit UpLift Solutions. The Goods for Guns collection will take place at the New All Saints Catholic Church located at 4408 Liberty Heights Avenue in Baltimore, MD.

Guns threaten the lives of innocent people every day. “Good for Guns” enables owners of guns to turn them in and receive a $100 ShopRite Gift Card; No questions are asked. “Violence in our communities makes any positive strides more challenging and it affects us all, particularly during difficult economic times. The ‘Goods for Guns’ program creates a tremendous opportunity to help the communities that we are committed to,” states Marshall Klein, Chief Operations Officer of Klein’s Family Markets. Collection locations are chosen based on where this assistance is most needed.
