Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah has once again shown his vision for Centerstage with his latest production “Wild with Happy,” which runs until Sunday June 29, 2014.

Gil’s boyfriend has left him, his acting career isn’t exactly going as planned and his mother just passed away. Luckily his boisterous Aunt Glo, a sensitive funeral director, and his outrageous best friend may be exactly what he needs.

The cast includes: Forrest McClendon as the grief-stricken Gil; Stephanie Berry as Aunt Glo; James Ijames as Terry the funeral director; and Chivas Michael as Gil’s best friend Mo.

This is not your everyday play geared to black audiences or as they are sometimes called “Tyler Perry” type play. Even though “Wild with Happy” makes you think, it also keeps you laughing hysterically with the many one-liners that are crafted beautifully throughout the performance.

“Wild with Happy” touches on social issues without hitting you over the head with them. The play features wonderful performances from the entire cast and Jeremy B. Cohen did a phenomenal job directing. This is a MUST SEE!
