— On Wednesday, April 2, 2014, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Black Enterprise Magazine and greiBO Media announced the schedule for the 38th Annual African American Festival and the addition of two major sponsors Black Enterprise and State Farm Insurance.

Over the last summers, it has been extremely hot and we expect more of the same this year, so the outdoor air-conditioned units will make their return so that all attending can keep cool and enjoy the festivities. Evergreen Health will be presenting the HEALTH, WELLNESS, & ACCESS area.

One of the new key components to this year’s festival is the Black Enterprise Empowerment Tent, which will feature seminars and exhibits.

STEM NATION, presented by iSTEMS and EMC, will have demonstrations and interactive activities on the latest in STEM News.

With concussions becoming more of a focal point in the world of sports, especially football, Mr. Football, Lavar Arrington, and his company Xtreme Procision, will be holding demonstrations and answering questions, providing knowledge for concerned parents about the game that we all love. This will be in conjunction with Under Armour.

Rounding out the festival, of course we have to talk music and performance! On Saturday: Jacob Latimore, Chico Debarge, and from the hit show R&B Divas Atlanta: Monifah. To close out the show the one and only Mint Condition.

On Sunday, it gets spiritual with the sounds of The Choir Boyz, star of the show Preachers of L.A.: Deitrick Haddon. Pace will slow down with MY-MY-MY, and Johnny Gill. It ends with a bang with one of the most talented and adored performers of our time: BRANDY.

The 2014 African-American Festival will be held Saturday June 21 and Sunday June 22, 2014. For more information, visit: http://www.africanamericanfestival.net. There will be more news and announcements to follow. Maybe some Jazz or perhaps something SCANDAL-ious? You never know who or what will show up at the 2014 African-American Festival.
