— Officials at Neighborhood Wellness Primary Care, a new community health center in West Baltimore, say they are committed to treating individuals and families by using fresh and improved methods.

The new community health services provider which serves low-income individuals and families in the Baltimore area, boasts that it approaches health care differently by using nurse practitioners, neighborhood health advocates, family appointments and shared medical visits to help ensure the health and wellness of Charm City residents.

The approach is a total team effort that affords patients the attention they may require when seeking medical treatment and options, officials said.

“We approach healthcare differently,” said Cyrus Nusum, manager of outreach and engagement for Neighborhood Wellness. “We’re servicing the communities in West Baltimore and we will be located in Mondawmin Mall beginning in the middle of March.”

Officials for Neighborhood Wellness and the popular mall, located at 2401 Liberty Heights Avenue, recently reached an agreement to bring the new healthcare provider to the large shopping center. A grand opening ceremony for Neighborhood Wellness Primary Care’s new health center is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from noon to 3 p.m. at the mall.

Having a location at the high-traffic mall should make it convenient for individuals and families to make and keep appointments with health care providers.

Additionally, the grand opening event is expected to attract several elected officials, Neighborhood Wellness community partners, local leaders and residents.

“[We’re inviting] the community to come and celebrate the grand opening, take a tour of the new health center, and take advantage of the free resources and services that Neighborhood Wellness and its community partners will make available during the grand opening event,” Nusum said.

Among the resources and services officials plan to offer are education, health care, employment, youth services, senior services, substance abuse, energy assistance, housing assistance, emergency services, personal finance and lead poisoning prevention.

The primary goal of Neighborhood Wellness is to provide honest, ethical health care service to individuals and families in need, and to help them to maintain or regain good health.
