— Klein’s Family Markets, which owns and operates the ShopRite of Parkville distributed 100 Thanksgiving dinners to those in need in the Parkville community.

The Klein family, which opened the Parkville location earlier this year in the Perring Crossing Shopping Center at 2401 Cleanleigh Drive in Baltimore, distributed the meals on Thursday, November 21, 2013.

The store took nominations from their customers for families who due to economic challenges, would not otherwise be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner this year. Names of nominated families were entered to win the complete Thanksgiving dinner through a random selection of entries submitted.

Latia Johnson was one of the lucky customers to receive a Thanksgiving dinner. “This means a lot to us because we have a big family, with a lot of kids, and it was a little hard to feed the family. We like giving back to the community, and now we get it in return,” she said.

This donation is just another way the Klein family continues to support the community of Parkville and its surrounding neighbors. Last December they hosted a “Goods for Guns” buyback program that collected 460 guns off the streets of Baltimore.

“We are giving back to our communities this holiday season to help make it extra special for our neighbors in need,” said Marshall Klein, COO of Klein’s Family Markets. “We look forward to continuing to expand our community support next year with the opening of our new store in Howard Park.”
