NASHVILLE, Tn. — Charm City Run, a Maryland-based running and walking, specialty company, has announced its commitment to help individuals in need around the world through their 2013 giving program. The company launched its campaign to provide shoes to Soles4Souls, Inc., a global not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty on November 1, 2013.
With one in four adults in the world living on less than one dollar a day, basic necessities like shoes are not readily available. A pair of shoes can protect an individual’s feet from cuts and infection that can be life threatening if untreated.
From now to December 31, 2013, Charm City Run will offer customers the chance to buy a pair of shoes for someone in their local community for just $2. The footwear will then be given directly to someone in need at one of the following local nonprofit establishments: Orphan Grain in Annapolis, Paul’s Place in Baltimore, Anna’s House in Bel Air, Grassroots Crisis Center in Clarksville or Paul’s Place in Timonium. Soles4Souls has donated more than 20 million pairs of shoes across 127 countries.
“Bringing relief to people in need fits perfectly with our company’s mission,” said Josh Levinson, CEO of Charm City Run. “We are delighted that we can help people around the world experience a higher quality of life through this campaign,” he continued. “We want to inspire and move the human spirit one sole at a time.”
Soles4Souls partners with progressive companies like Charm City Run to directly impact the lives of people suffering from natural disasters or striving to break free from poverty.
“We deeply appreciate this commitment by Charm City Run and its customers,” said Buddy Teaster, CEO of Soles4Souls. “From our experience, we are certain that the social good campaign will result in inspiring personal stories from individuals who have witnessed transformation among their families and their communities.”
