On Saturday, November 9, 2013, pull into the slow-food lane and experience an evening in the 17th century. Work alongside Historic St. Mary’s City “colonists” to prepare a historically accurate and delicious meal at the site of Van Sweringen’s Inn, known for offering the best of colonial food and drink.

Cook over the open hearth and then enjoy the fruits, vegetables, and proteins of your labor. The meal will include meat pasties, spitted pork loin, cherries with fry bread, sautéed apples and sweet potatoes, and cider. After dinner, try your hand at some 17th century pastimes by candlelight.

Dinner at Van Sweringens will begin at 5:30 p.m. and is appropriate for those 18 years and older. The fee is $30, and $25 for members). Reservations are required by November 5, 2013— 240-895-4990 or info@stmaryscity.org.
