— The roar of dozens of motorcycles could be heard Saturday afternoon as members of the Blue Knights –a group made up of off-duty and retired police officers, as well as military veterans, descend on Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore. The motorcyclists make this run every October, rain or shine to deliver the toys and monetary donations they have collected for the hospital.

Many of the patients who were able, came outside and got to sit on their favorite motorcycle—

some even took a turn making the engines roar. Kids who attend Sibshops of Maryland, which helps brothers and sisters of children with special needs, were also on hand and were able to sit on the bikes and ask questions about the different styles of motorcycles at the event.

Each year, the event begins at Old Glory Harley Davidson in Laurel, where members of the International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Maryland III Chapter get coffee and donuts, warm up a bit, and then ride north to deliver the toys and monetary donations, have lunch with the kids and tour the hospital.
