Hello everyone! I am so excited, because of my book sales. They have been flying off the shelf this week. Thanks to many of you have asked and received an autographed copy and those of you who have invited me to your events and clubs to do book signings. The Maryland Beverage Association & the Mid Atlantic Joint Board of Workers United, salutes the Damon Harris Motown Temptations Revue in its efforts to bring awareness to the Drunk Driving, Underage Drinking, Smoking & Cancer campaign Monday, June 24, 8 p.m. at the Workers United Union Hall, located 7-9 West Mulberry Street in Baltimore. The Damon Harris Motown Temptations Revue will hold a press reception and interviews regarding their announcement of becoming official spokespersons for the campaign. They will do a mini performance. “The Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church Youth and Young Adult Celebration” is Sunday, June 24 at 10 a.m at 2110 Madison Avenue. Minister Christopher Griffin is the guest speaker. Rev. Dr. John M. The Maceo’s is one of the finest black owned night club around in Baltimore. In my professional opinion, when a club has a great live entertainment, fantastic starmaids, an out-of-sight manager and owners with great personality, especially when they are not hard on the eyes; delicious food and an over 50 clientele, with no cover charge then Honey Child, you got a winner. Ladies and gentlemen, the Maceo’s Restaurant and Lounge located 1926 N, Monroe Street has all of this. On Friday, June 21 from 7-11 p.m. the Slag Band will perform and on Thursday, June 27th the Bobby Rucks Group will perform for 6-10 p.m. and on Friday, June 28 one of my favorites the Phil Butts & the Sunset Band will perform. Nadine Rae & The Allstars will perform on Saturday, June 22 from 12 noon ’til 2 p.m. at the Famous Lexington Market, 400 W. Lexington Street at Paca Street. This is a blues band with a lady who knows how to sing the blues and this event is also free. Check it out— I will see you there!

OH MY GOODNESS! Let me tell you about the event that Phil Butts, Eleanor Janey and Ronald Scott put together at the Caton Castle this past Saturday. Honey Child! It was awesome! I can’t express enough about how fantastic the Phil Butts Big Band was! I mean this was a 15-piece band, white and black professional musicians dressed in formal black tuxedos with their orchestra music stands like the Tommy Dorsey, Glen Miller, Benny Goodman or Count Basie orchestra. The sound took the roof off the club with the 1940’s dance music. They had great stage presence, the music was superb, and the club lounge was set up beautifully with white linen tablecloths and centerpieces. The service provided by the starmaids and waitresses was wonderful, the food was delicious and the presentation of the four-hour event was very memorable. Everyone who attended enjoyed every moment of it. Thank you Phil Butts for bringing your music to the black Community— you must do it again!
