— The Baltimore Ravens brought in new offensive coordinator Marc Trestman to guide the offense. Trestman is a coach that is deeply rooted in West Coast Offense concepts. One of the core concepts in the West Coast Offense is getting the running backs involved in the passing game. Buck Allen proved to be a viable receiving option out of the backfield while he played at USC.

Trestman wants to retain a lot of the zone blocking elements from the Ravens previous offense under Gary Kubiak. Allen is a runner with superb vision and has the cutback ability that will allow him to excel in the zone scheme. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh had high praise for Allen when he spoke after the last day of mini-camp.

“Buck Allen is going to be interesting. We’ll find out when the pads come on, but I have a feeling that he’s going to be able to run this scheme really well.” Harbaugh continued; “He has excellent vision – it looks like right now – plus, he has the lateral cut ability that’s pretty special.”

Check out the video below to see what Buck Allen had to say about how this offense fits his ability.
