TOWSON, Md. — The first day for the Baltimore County Public Schools’ 2015-2016 school year has been moved to Monday, August 24, from Wednesday, August 26.
This change was requested by Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance and approved by the Board of Education of Baltimore County at its meeting on May 5. Opening a few days earlier allows additional instructional hours, particularly at the high school level. In past years, including the current year, the school system has asked for a waiver from the Maryland State Department of Education because of a shortage in instructional time due to inclement weather closings.
