Macedonia Baptist Church celebrates 140th anniversary

— Reverend Al Sharpton and Baltimore community leaders will join Dr. Darron D. McKinney, Sr., pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church of Baltimore City and the congregation to celebrate the church’s 140th anniversary on Sunday, November 23, 2014.

The themed worship service, “Giving Thanks, Looking Back and Moving Forward” will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church located at 718 West Lafayette Avenue in Baltimore City at 10 a.m.

“Reverend Al Sharpton is sure to add a special dynamic to our worship service,” said Pastor McKinney. “We are delighted to have an advocate of civil rights, who understands our theme’s relevance of truth to power through personal life experiences.”

Macedonia has planed a series of other celebratory events to highlight the theme and showcase the church’s historical past.

The first in the series begins Friday, November 21, 2014, at 6 p.m. “Looking Back”….. The public is invited to Macedonia for an evening of food and fun as they highlight the unique contributions of the church’s past six pastors.

Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. The theme’s “Moving Forward” viewpoint is celebrated during a semi-formal brunch at Martin’s Valley Mansion, 594 Cranbrook Road in Cockeysville where Reverend Jimmy Baldwin, Pastor of the Christian Community Church in Baltimore City will be the guest speaker. Tickets are $65.00.

The public is invited to join the members of Macedonia Baptist Church on this momentous occasion.
