Have you ever heard the saying, “Take a picture it lasts longer?” Well this week’s entrepreneur, Stuart Hudgins, really wants you to take a picture and more importantly, share it!
Artist and graphic designer, Stuart Hudgins was commissioned to come up with a piece that would capture the attention of people as they drive up and down Pennsylvania Avenue.
“I wanted to do something that shows just how rich with cultural and history Pennsylvania Avenue is all about. Our young people, [as well as] new people who are moving or have moved into the area, don’t really know the story of Pennsylvania Avenue. We need this neighborhood to come back to what it used to be and we need to support our black owned businesses,” said Hudgins.
The Royal Theater & Community Heritage Corporation (TRTCHC) and the Avenue Bakery Family hosted the installation of “Our Community’s Legacy” photomontage on Saturday, May 3, 2014. The artwork features African American leaders and icons and highlights the community’s impact in the Civil Rights Movement. The photomontage is on the grounds of the Avenue Bakery located at 2229 Pennsylvania Avenue in West Baltimore.
