Performance application deadline for MLK Parade closes Monday, December 16, 2013

— Join Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts and Office of Civil Rights and Wage Enforcement for the 14th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade presented by Forman Mills on Monday, January 20, 2014 at noon. Baltimore’s commemorational procession steps off at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Eutaw Street, proceeds south on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and disbands at Baltimore Street. The annual parade honors the immeasurable contributions of Dr. King.

The celebration for the late civil rights activist features entertaining high school and community marching bands, decorative floats, civic organizations, high stepping fraternities, honor and color guards, lively cheerleading squads and equestrian units. Spectators can view the entertainment from various locations along the parade route, including near the reviewing stand at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Franklin Street. Performance applications are now being accepted for the parade. The deadline for submissions is Monday, December 16, 2013. The 2014 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade is presented by Forman Mills with additional support from Corrigan Sports Enterprises, Baltimore Running Festival, The Afro-American Newspapers, Kelly & Associates Insurance Group and KTBSPayroll, The Baltimore Times, Fox 45/ The CW Baltimore and Radio One: 92Q, Magic 95.9, Spirit 1400 and WOLB 1010.
